The Beast Before ‘25


The Beast Before is a 32 page picture book exploring the Dartmoor legend of The Beast of the Moor. Amelia wrote and illustrated this boook as part of her final major project for her BAhons Illustration degree which she studied at The University of Gloucestershire. The book follows a young girl, Wren, aged 9 ,her cat Shadow, in their journey across the moors and their run ins with fantastical folklore creatures they encounter along their way. The book is written in rhyming couplets to aid in language aquisition and illustrated using watercolour paints and coloured pencils explores themes of environmentalism, sustainable foraging, and British folklore. After some editing Amelia plans to explore publishing options for The Beast Before.
